My granddaughter, Emma, was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at the age of 9 months. She is now almost 5 years old and also suffers from other autoimmune deficiencies. Educational video describing painful conditions associated with the knee.

A few months after I made this video, Phoebe was humanely released from the chronic pain that she was battling. The years of neglect caused her coffin bone in one foot to actually dissolve (from being slowly pulverized by the deformity of the hoof). The other foot was missing about 50% of the coffin bone. Her body was wracked with pain from arthritis developed from the stance she had adopted from being in one place on those deformed feet for at least a year. The hooves grew not only up and backward, but they CLOSED-in the sole of her hoof so she was left with rockers for hooves. The sole of her hoof was not even visible. The owner did not face any charges for what he did to this pony – in the State of Indiana if there is food, shelter and water – that is considered enough. Phoebe was in a pen with 2 other appearantly healthy large horses and there was an opened gate to a grass field about 40 feet from where she stood….but she could not get to it. The man had a luxury horse trailer in his driveway. When asked about her feet he said, “Hon, they just grow that way”. One hoof was actually growing into her leg – my husband used a reciprocating saw to hack off the curled sections until the farrier could get here. She had not laid down in a long, long time…..

Documentary which gives an insight into the phenomenon of self-harming teenagers by following three young people who have resorted to it as a way of coping with what life has thrown at them. Beth is 15 and suffers from arthritis and has self-harmed as a reaction to bullying at school. Tor, now 24, began cutting herself at the same age while under pressure to get good grades, and is still doing so. Gary, now 20, has been self-harming since 13 when he went to live in a children’s home.
