sick run you through day at work for me, firstly I clean my surgery and set up for my first 5 or so patients, I call patients through from the waiting from, pop them in safety gear, then depending on what they need doing you’ll mostly be required to mix materials, aspirate, you don’t really pass instruments to the dentist as they must every be on the tray you have prepared. they’re is lots of cleaning involved & cross infection. Preparing trays so everything is on there for dentist since each treatment. Lots of talking to nervous patients.

    Stocking up surgery.

And did I stay lots an lots of cleaning lol

Its an amazing job I  like it x

That’s a loaded question! We do just about everything!

Schedule appointments, make financial arrangements, treatment plan, take xrays, impressions, make whitening trays, fabricate temporary crowns, document procedures, follow up with patients, sterilize instruments, fabricate soft splints and mouth guards, write out prescriptions (Dr’s sign of course), call in prescriptions to pharmacies, oral care instruction and explaining procedures to patients.. . . especially nervous ones.

Of course, some states do not allow assistants to perform these expanded duties. It’s also up to Dentist you work for.

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can be of any further help!
